Plain concrete flatwork runs about $6 to $12 per square foot installed in 2026, by national figures. We do not post a Sioux Falls price list. Here the base decides much of the price: how much clay or black dirt has to come out, how much gravel goes back in and whether old concrete has to be hauled off.
The price ranges on this page are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not our quotes and not Sioux Falls averages. Local labor, ready-mix prices, access, tear-out and the soil under your slab move the number. Last checked October 2026.
How much does a concrete driveway cost?
A concrete driveway costs $6 to $15 per square foot nationally, which is $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Plain concrete is $6 to $10 per square foot. Basic decorative work is $10 to $15. Many Sioux Falls homes have a three-stall garage, so measure your own drive and multiply. Do not rely on the two-car figure.
| Driveway | National installed cost |
|---|---|
| Plain, per sq ft | $6 to $10 |
| Basic decorative, per sq ft | $10 to $15 |
| 20x20 (400 sq ft) | $2,400 to $6,000 |
| 24x24 (576 sq ft) | $3,500 to $8,600 |
How much does concrete cost per square foot?
A concrete slab costs $6 to $12 per square foot installed, nationally. By thickness, a 4-inch slab is $6 to $8 per square foot and a 6-inch slab is $8 to $10. That covers forms, base, concrete, finishing and labor on a normal site. Tear-out, extra base and a pump truck are added when a job needs them.
How much does a concrete patio cost? What is a fair price for a 20x20 patio?
A plain concrete patio costs $4 to $12 per square foot nationally. Stained or stamped, it costs $8 to $30. For a plain 20x20 patio the published range is $1,600 to $4,800, and for a stained or stamped 20x20 it is $3,200 to $12,000. A plain 12x12 is $600 to $1,700. For a 12x20 or 16x20 patio, multiply your square feet by the per-foot range.
How much does it cost to pour a slab for a 24x24 garage or a 30x40 shop?
Published national slab prices are $2,400 to $4,800 for a 20x20 and $5,400 to $10,800 for a 30x30. HomeGuide prints no row for 24x24 or 30x40. Simple arithmetic from its $6 to $12 per square foot figure gives $3,460 to $6,900 for a 24x24 slab (576 sq ft) and $7,200 to $14,400 for a 30x40 slab (1,200 sq ft). Those numbers are for the slab only. A garage or shop in Sioux Falls also needs frost footings or an approved frost-protected design, and that is priced from the permit drawings.
How much is a yard of concrete?
Ready-mix concrete costs $119 to $147 per cubic yard nationally, including delivery up to 20 miles. That is material only. Labor, base, forms, steel and finishing make up most of a concrete bill, so the per yard price says little about the finished job.
How much does it cost to remove and replace an old driveway?
Add removal to the price of the new driveway. Removal costs $3 to $8 per square foot nationally with disposal, or $1,200 to $4,500 for a whole driveway. The new driveway is then $6 to $15 per square foot. When a replacement is needed, our quote covers having the old concrete broken out and hauled away, and shows it as its own line.
How much does stamped concrete cost compared with plain? What about color or stain?
Stamped concrete costs $8 to $19 per square foot nationally, against $6 to $10 for a plain driveway. A 20x20 stamped patio is $3,200 to $7,600, a two-car stamped driveway is $6,900 to $10,400 and a 4x20 stamped walkway is $800 to $1,700. HomeGuide publishes no separate upcharge for color or stain alone, so we give no number for that. We price it after we see the slab and you pick the look.
How much does a concrete walkway cost?
A concrete walkway or sidewalk costs $7 to $17 per square foot installed, nationally. For a walk 4 feet wide that is $28 to $68 per linear foot, and an average job is $1,400 to $3,400. A single replaced sidewalk panel is a small job, so a minimum charge for the truck and crew can matter more than the square footage.
How much does a concrete retaining wall cost?
A concrete retaining wall costs $3,000 to $10,000 on average nationally. That works out to $45 to $270 per linear foot or $15 to $45 per square foot of wall face. In our climate the footing depth and the drainage stone behind the wall are a large part of the work, so compare what each quote includes below ground.
How much does a parking pad or sidewalk cost for a small business?
No published figure was found for commercial parking pads or lots, so we give no number. A small business job is priced after a site visit, because truck loads, drainage, the accessible route and any work in the city right of way all change it. A plain public sidewalk follows the walkway range above as a starting point.
I have three quotes for the same patio and they are far apart. Which one do I trust?
Trust the one that writes down the work. When quotes are far apart, the difference is nearly always in things you cannot see once the concrete is down: how deep the dig is, how much gravel base goes in, the slab thickness, the steel, whether the mix is air-entrained and who hauls the spoil. Line the quotes up and compare those items. In Sioux Falls a slab poured on clay with no base can look fine in September and heave in March.
The contractor wants extra for a gravel base after demolition. Is that normal?
It can be fair, but the terms should be in the quote before work starts. Nobody sees under an old slab until it is lifted. Black dirt, wet clay or a hollow beside the basement wall are common finds here, and fixing them costs real money. A good quote names a unit price for extra base in advance. If someone asks for extra for the gravel with nothing in writing, look at the ground yourself and get the change written down before you agree.
How do I know if a concrete quote is fair?
A concrete quote is fair when it falls inside the published range for the work and spells out what you get. Look for square footage, thickness, base depth and compaction, reinforcement, air-entrained mix and strength, joint layout, finish, tear-out, haul-away, permits and payment terms. A low price with none of that listed is not a bargain. It is an unknown.
